😢🎥 Farewell, Weather Wizard! Commander Tom Jolls Dances Among the Clouds at 89
TL;DR: We’re pulling out our handkerchiefs, folks! Tom Jolls, aka Commander Tom, a weather reporting maestro and longtime fixture of your TV screens, has taken his final bow at 89. Remembered for his ‘weather outside your window’ segment, Jolls wasn’t just a weatherman, he was a part of our daily lives. Even though we are facing the storm of his loss, the forecast promises nostalgic memories.🌦️
So, who turned on the television after school and was greeted by the reassuring voice of Tom Jolls? Remember when he would give us the ‘weather outside your window’? Wasn’t that just a little piece of home for all of us? Who else loved his ‘weather in a minute’ as much as their morning coffee? ☕️🌈
Commander Tom, with his trusty sidekicks Irv Weinstein and Rick Azar, was more than just a weatherman on 7 Eyewitness News. He was the evening comet that raced across our screens, a comforting presence for more than 30 years. Together, they were our daily lighthouse, guiding us through stormy news seas with a sense of ease and camaraderie. 📺🎙️🌊
Originally from Lockport, Jolls became a member of the 7 News Team in 1965, and in doing so, he also became a cherished member of our families. He was there through blistering heatwaves, frigid snowstorms, and gently falling autumn leaves, always with a smile, a kind word, and that legendary phrase, “The weather outside your window is…” 🏞️🌞❄️
Jolls passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at Buffalo Hospice in Cheektowaga. With his departure, the temperature of our hearts has certainly taken a dip. But, just like his weather predictions, we know that after this cloud of sorrow, the sun will rise again. He now takes his place in the stars, forecasting celestial patterns from the other side. ☁️⭐
So here’s a question, how much has Tom Jolls influenced our perception of weather reporting? Can we ever look at another weather forecast without remembering his trademark, homespun charm?
And more importantly, who will give us ‘the weather outside our window’ now? Have we truly seen the end of an era with his passing? How will the world of weather reporting fill the void left by his departure?
In memory of Commander Tom, let’s look outside our windows today and remember him. Shall we? As we gaze at the weather, whatever it may be, let’s celebrate the life of a man who made understanding the skies an enjoyable part of our daily routine. After all, isn’t it the weather outside our windows that makes us feel truly at home? 🏡🌻💭
