Jerome Jean-Yak was probably dreaming of that perfect swing, maybe even a hole-in-one, during his day out on the lush greens of Westwood Plateau in British Columbia. Little did he know, a furry spectator had other plans. Yup, a bear, perhaps bored of foraging, decided to get a feel of the golfing world. 🌲🐻🌲
Imagine you’re all set, focusing on the ball, getting your posture right, breathing in the serene surroundings, and BAM! Mr. Bear strolls in and decides that your golf bag looks pretty intriguing. Maybe it’s thinking, “Could this improve my swing?” Or, “Are there snacks inside?”. 🤷♂️
A friend of Jean-Yak managed to catch the uproarious scene on video. The clip showcases the bear, in all its candid glory, casually sneaking up and deciding that Jean-Yak’s bag looked better with him. The hilarious yet wild turn of events prompted another of Jean-Yak’s friends to comment, “A buddy of mine got a new golf bag for this season. Last weekend a Bear took a liking to it. Hilarity ensued.” 😂
Now, this isn’t something they teach you in Golf 101. While golf courses can be home to various wildlife, a bear making off with your equipment is something even the pros wouldn’t see coming. And while the loss of a golf bag is unfortunate for Jean-Yak, the story does make one heck of an anecdote for barbecues and dinner parties. “Did I ever tell you about the time a bear stole my golf bag?”
