If there’s anything more unpredictable than the weather, it’s a SpaceX launch. 🌩️ Friday, July 14, was supposed to be the day when the Falcon 9 rocket 🚀 and its crew of 54 Starlink internet satellites said adios to Earth 🌍 from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Well, we all know how that ended. It’s like being all dressed up with nowhere to go!
Imagine you’re at a concert, the stage is set, the band’s all tuned up, and just when the lead singer’s about to open with the first note… BOOM! Lights out, show’s over! 🎤💥 That’s pretty much what happened. 40 seconds on the clock, a thrilling liftoff about to happen and then… nothing. Nada. Zilch.
And we’re left wondering, why the sudden change of heart, SpaceX? 🤔 Why take us to the edge of the cliff, only to leave us hanging?
So, while we sit here twiddling our thumbs waiting for the next launch window (Saturday, July 15, at 12:15 a.m. EDT, by the way), it might be a good time to reflect on the ground we’ve covered so far. 💭
Let’s rewind the tape a bit. On Friday evening, teams at Launch Complex 40 were buzzing like bees, prepping for a 12:40 a.m. EDT liftoff. 🐝 They even had the RP-1 (rocket grade kerosene) and LOX (liquid oxygen) loaded into the Falcon 9 rocket’s first stage. Everything seemed A-OK for launch. 🚦
Then, just 40 seconds before the engine ignition sequence was due to start, someone at SpaceX decided it was a no-go. And the rest, as they say, is history…or rather, a mission scrubbed. 🧽
