βΎ Everything’s Bigger in Texas, Including MLB All-Star Game Vibes! π
TL;DR; The MLB and Texas Rangers just showed off the 2024 All-Star Game logo, and yep, it’s Texas-themed! Why? ‘Cause Texas rocks, that’s why. π€ Also, having hosted some epic baseball moments in the past, the state is all geared up for another epic showdown. Now the question is… will the game be as fiery as the Texas summer? π₯
Gazing at the unveiled 2024 MLB All-Star logo, Rob Manfred, the commissioner of Major League Baseball, couldn’t help but comment, “It looks like Texas a little bit, donβt you think?” Uh, Rob, “a little bit”? We’re thinking “a whole lot”! The state-inspired emblem is slaying in bold red and blue with “All-Star Game 2024” flaunting itself in the center. π₯
Flashback! π°οΈ Why did the All-Star Game pick Texas, you ask? Manfred spills the beans, hinting at the Texas Rangersβ impressive resume. The team didn’t just host the pandemic-affected 2020 postseason, but they rolled out the red carpet for the World Series. Manfred was all, “Texas, Arlington, [owner] Ray [Davis] really stepped up.” So basically, Texas Rangers = party legends? π
Way back in ’95, The Ballpark in Arlington had its All-Star moment when the National League took down the American League 3-2. Legends from that game, namely catcher Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez and pitcher Kenny Rogers, came out to play once again for the logo reveal. By the way, mark your calendars for the 94th Midsummer Classic on Tuesday, July 16, 2024! π
Hold up! π The All-Star game isn’t a one-day fiesta. Globe Life Field isn’t just prepping for the game but also the Home Run Derby and an almost-week of sporty festivities. With the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau estimating a whopping $90 million impact from this game, it seems Arlington’s grown up quite a bit since its last All-Star stint. In the words of Ray Davis, they can now “hold the majority of events locally.” So, a smoother All-Star experience? Score! π
When Seattle hosted the 2023 game, MLB had their sights set on booking 20,000 hotel nights. Imagine the energy, the anticipation, and most importantly, the economic boost! π But Texas is different, and as Davis points out, they can keep things more local this time, making it a logistical dream.
So, with all the heat around the logo, and the event shaping up to be one for the books, it leaves us pondering: How’s Texas gonna top their last hosting gig? And more crucially, π€ for you baseball aficionados out there: Does the host state’s vibe influence the outcome of the game? Let the debate begin! βΎπ€ π
